TERRORISM IN NIGERIA; WAY TO GO
Terrorism is the unlawful us of violence and intimidation especially against civilians in the pursuit of political, religious or personal gains. Research has shown that the rate of terrorism as tripled in the last 20 years and this of course is a matter of serious concern which doesn't need to be debated.
Statistician explained that in the United states, the risk of the death due to terrorism is roughly said to be 1 out 4000.
This issue of terrorism is a big challenge facing Nigeria and we don't seem to have a way out of it. It is said that Nigeria is of recent the 3rd most terrorized country after Iraq and Afghanistan and the 5th most dangerous country in the world. Terrorist attacks are much more lethal in Nigeria than any other country in the world (some say its as a result of bad government). In the past 10 years, a lot of terrorist cases and attacks have occurred in Nigeria, some of which have been settled either by negotiation or by reorientation and a few times by repression but this hasn't stopped other terrorists groups from rising.
Since the uprising of Boko Haram since 2009, so many people have lost their lives, their properties and also their loved ones. Boko Haram is said to be the most deadly terrorist group in Nigeria. They attack churches, schools, mosques, and public places such as markets and bus parks. This Islamic terror group killed over a thousand people in July of 2014. They was a bomb blast in a catholic church on the 25th of December 2011, during a Christmas carol that left so many people dead and others injured. Report made it clear that in 2014 about 6,118 people lost their lives in attacks compared to 1,595 lives that were lost in 2013.
Another group that has been terrorizing Nigeria since 2013 is the Fulani militant group in the northern part Nigeria is recorded to have killed more than 2,500 people from 2014 till date.
The Fulani herdsmen as said to be driven by issues relating to land control and the ownership of territories.
The most recent of this groups is the Badoo cult group that go about killing people even in the comfort of their homes. They have been unleashing terror on some communities in Lagos state “Badoo is a serial rapist and killer. Victims don’t do anything to warrant the attack. They just pick the victim and go after them. This girl went to church with her parents for a night vigil. And because of the security situation of the community, they were told not to leave the church immediately after the service. So, the parents had to stay back with other people. They were sleeping in the church around 4am, when he went into the church and picked the little girl and took her into a school building close to the church, brutalized, raped and left her there to die. But as God will have it, she didn’t.
“Apart from Adesewa’s case, there is another little girl of 8 years, named Marvelous. They inflicted several injuries on her head when they attacked her grandmother. The girl raised alarmed when she saw them trying to forcibly rape her grandmother of about 74 years old.
All this leave me wondering, whats the way to go with terrorism in Nigeria, what can or should be done. The government have tried different ways to stop this terror groups but most times they are all to no avail. They have tried negotiation which is the most common way to stop terrorism or better still the best way most countries have addressed this issue. The government seek to know what the terrorist want and they meet at the middle, offer them something just to stop the attacks but is this actually right? Reorientation has also been an option, the government try to re-orientate the citizens majorly the terrorist groups involved but this also doesn't often work. We also cannot overemphasis the use of repression in addressing this issue, But research has analyse that this method of curtailing terrorism as caused more harm than good.
What then is the way to go? How do we address this issue of terrorism? Terrorism is like a virus killing people really fast. Lets attack it before it attacks us.

Well i think,d solution to terrorism n Nigeria is dialogue, cos thru dialogue d govt would find out dia greviances, and at dsame tym, unemployment n religious misunderstandings r 90% d root cause of terrorism in Nigeria...if the Muslim clerics can do more to reorientate this boko haram Muslims of what the Quran really teaches,i think we wud b heading somwhr dat way,and lastly d govt jus has to provide jobs either by way of making skill acquisition a core subject n secondary schools or making jobs available thru foreign direct investment....
